We have an old open fire from the 1930's that we use occasionally. The chimney does get swept as needed. As we have scaffolding on the roof I have the opportunity to go up and install an 8 inch liner. At the top of the open fire 'gap' is approx 30cm wide by 14 cm deep. I guess the liner would sit on top of this BUT my question is - how do I make sure all the smoke / gasses go up this liner and not up the sides?
