Hello,

Installing a PFC to support the weight of the chimney above the steel so I can remove the lower sections on the chimney.

I have been instructed by calculations engineer to install pfc and 8mm steel plate.
Should the PFC sit at the back of the chimney so 3 sections of the brickwork sit on it or middle/front where only 2 sections of brick work sit on steel. With the steel plate above and 2inch into the wall.

Many thanks

The normal way is to bolt the support plate to the beam so the beam takes the front of the breast, and the support plate goes back from the front of the beam to the wall. The beam needs to be at the front of the breast as that's where more of weight is.
