Chipboard walls

I lined the garage with moisture resistant chipboard flooring a couple of years ago (with foam insulation behind) and now want to paint it white to reflect more light.
Can i paint this or will i have to relign the wall? i was thinking of fixing 8-10mm hardwood, etc on top if needed but would prefer to just paint the chipboard
