I have just chipped the edge of my granite worktop. Can you suggest a suitable repair medium. The damage is around a 1 cm wide and 5mm deep.
The granite is Ubatuba, so a greenish crystalline composition with many hues.

Can you get an epoxy repair kit and fill & sand it down then polish? Or is this an expert's project..........am very cross

I would try the supplier, they are - I assume - experienced in this type of repair and have the right stuff to use. If you don't know the supplier then try your nearest granite supplier. I can't see a DIY job being satisfactory. A chipped worktop is a constant worry, how did you do it? I've just seen my nephew's corian worktops, quite impressive and almost as expensive, but apparently repairable. (That's no help at all, I know.)

Thanks Kes,

how did I do it? I caught the edge with a saucepan, not a hard knock but had a nasty surprise when it chipped. There's me thinking granite is a very hard substance, when it is as I found out, brittle at the edges.

So granite owners best beware!
With the edges, take great care.
Or you may, like me, be forced to bear,
the wrath of she! Oh what a mare.

It can be done but never looks right
By mixing crushed granite in Araldite
Careful smoothing and a fine rub down
Should soon get rid of that female frown

If she moans and says it's not right
Tell her you have helped to ease her plight
Surely she knows you will save her lots
And, in future, take care with those flying pots.

On re-reading my posting, I think that I should point out that I AM talking about the worktop and not your Wife.

Well that put a smile on our faces, and thanks for the suggestion.

I will 'have a go'. I will ask her indoors to chew up some Ubatuba this afternoon.
Will report back in due course.

I think it's worth a try, 'an it
will show your wife is not made of granite

Now look what you've started...
