Chopping up a tree stump

I used an auger, probably about 2 inch and started it with one of those while paraffin blocks used to start coal fires etc and some dry bits of wood as fuel, the tree had been cut down for about two months and once it got going, it blasted a flame out of the top and just kept going...

Had another go today. Got a fire lighter in, lit up and got it going but still fizzled out even though I tried to keep the fire going with some tiny strips of wood and paper.

I went and bought an axe.

Should have bunged up the side hole and poured some petrol in the top hole. Left it to soak in for a while then tried again with another firelighter as a starter.

Lighting petrol fumes in a tube like structure would not be recommended in my view ,well not from very close up anyway.
When a lad I squirted petrol into a wasp nest down a mole hole ,after a moment or two I struck and threw a flaring match in and whoosh I got my eyebrows singed.

That would be because the fumes were rising upwards. A common misconception is that it is petrol burning when in actual fact it is the vapours from the petrol that burn. Pouring down the hole, allowing to soak in for a short while and then lighting at arms length, without leaning over.

Put it on Facebook someone my want it. Can you role it to a car out side your house?
