Hello all,

As you can probably tell I'm an absolute novice and I've already broken the golden rule of forums by not searching first but I have to go to work in a few minutes.

I have a gravity feed+expansion boiler system with a hot water tank and a non-condensing boiler that's probably circa 1993 as that's when the house was built. All the radiators have unregulated lockshield valves on both sides. I want to replace them with TRVs probably next year when it's a bit warmer to drain the system (except for the towel rail, also there is a manual bypass pipe in the airing cupboard so I should be able to put TRVs in all the rads) but on looking online I find different sizes and I don't know which to get.

e.g. looking at the Drayton TRV4 its available as 8mm, 10mm, 15mm, 1/2", 3/4". How do I know which to get, is it the pipe size? Measured with calipers the pipes to the rads are somewhere between 10.5-11mm outer diameter with some paint on them.

Cheers,
Matthew
