Christmas 'Elfs?

To be honest, I actaully feel sorry for them.

We had to do the ROSPA "Working At Heights" Training a couple of weeks ago, I was almost suicidal by the end of it.

We all know... let me rephrase that, 'most of us' know the reasons behind this. The Authorities are **** scared they will be litigated against for any 'failings' in H&S training. ie some Police Officer slips etc off a 3ft ladder and hasn't been provided with 'adequate' training in the use of said equipment then the 'Ambulance Chasers' will offer No Win No Fee to litigate on the PC's behalf. It is annoying that our Tax is going on such 'training' but it's a side effect of trying to make the work place a safer place and protecting employees from employers who place their employees in danger.

I was once on a course for basic first aid, which was quite reasonable until we came to discuss Anaphylactic Shock .
We were told we could not administer an epi pen, to someone who was unconscious, even if it was their own pen.
When I asked , what if the person was semi conscious and asked me to administer it, because he was unable to do it himself.
The answer was still no, when I asked why, I was told that if it went wrong you could be sued.
So we have to let him possibly die?....Yes, was the answer.

That might be the training but in a real life situation you would just get on with it.

You'd probably be ok administering the epipen, as long as you'd completed a detailed risk assesment first

It would be just my luck to have a serious accident, and the first one the scene to be the local H&S enforcer!
