People,

I want to connect a Yorkshire solder ring fitting on to Chrome plated copper pipe and considered purchasing the following item from eBay:-

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/15MM-1-2-CP-C...DIY_Materials_Plumbing_MJ?hash=item19b741b47f

The seller has advised that "Please note that push on fittings do not grip or work well on chrome pipe."

Is he refering to Yorkshire solder ring fittings?

Also he advised that "TUBE WILL BE HIGHLY POLISHED CHROME ON 15mm TABLE X STRAIGHT COPPER TUBE
"

What is Table X?

Cheers

you can't solder chrome pipe, you can't use push fit. all you can use is compression fit, but it's advisable to rough up the pipe with a bit of emery first.

If you are using soldered joints, you need to scrape off chrome off the pipe where the joint will be. The same applies for compression joints. The copper pipe used for chrome pipes is a lot harder than normal stuff(i.e. Table X) and you can also get a lot of variation in chrome quality in the same batch of pipework. Some pipe will bend nicely with no signs of stress in the chrome and others will be a total loss.

Generally it's a nightmare to work with. I had to do a boiler install last week in a bathroom and the customer wanted chrome pipework!. It took half a day to bend and solder 3 bloody pipes!!
