I have a standard toilet which is leaking between the pan and the cistern. I've taken a look and the donut is scabby so on advice I found on another thread here I went out and bought the wc coupling kit from ScrewFix.

Kit comes with wingnuts, donut and a metal plate. I do not know what I'm supposed to do with the plate. My current setup does not have one (not necessarily put in right), so I don't know if I should just replace the donut or whether or not the plate is supposed to sit between pan and cistern.

Any pointers appreciated

Thanks

Some don't need the plate and just pull together with the two bolts that go through the cistern & pan.
