I sorted the slow fill of my cistern a while back, using a DIY book - now the cistern is filling just fine but the gush of the flush in the bowl just isn't there.
Cistern filling, but when we flush the toilet, the water just kind of drip-feeds into the toilet bowl, even though the plastic tap inside the cistern is squooshing water. Someone else online mentioned the flapper - but I am now clueless. Anyone able to please help?

Thanks andy - looking at these now - we do have them, but siphon may be blocked with crud or something. Thanks for the quick response.

If it is a siphon then the diaphram may have split or curled up so it's not lifting the water as you flush.

Yes, that seems to be it - would that call for a replacement siphon or is there something that can be done - is it safe to pull the blue cap off of the top of the siphon?

If you're lucky you can split the siphon from above by removing a couple of pins in the side.

But usually the siphon wont be able to be dismantled. So you will need to split the cistern from the pan to get to the big nut underneath.

Thanks - I think it's a turn the water off, remove siphon, replace with a new one job! I now know 100percent more about the problem than I did before - thanks.

Takes 30 seconds and since he is doing it himself will save a fiver.
There will be nothing wrong with the syphon body or spring.
