In the last 24 hours I've noticed that the cistern continues to trickle water into the toilet bowl. Obviously this means that it's filling and emptying (slowly but noticeably) constantly using water.

I've turned of the mains and confirmed that it's emptying into The bowl.

Is this a simple problem to fix? I'd prefer to DIY rather than pay stupid money (I'm in London) for a simple job.

Here's a picture, many thanks in advance for your feedback

emptying out the internal overflow possibly. Check fill valve washer. Or replace. Unscrew that white nut on top of the fill valve and take the contents to a plumbers merchant for a suitable washer.

Yeah thats the one. Lift the float up to it highest and see if it stops the water coming out the fill valve. It may jut need adjusting, there should be a threaded plastic type lug you can adjust to when you want to stop the water. Check the water level and adjust the screw to stop at that point i.e before it hits the internal overflow.

Thanks for that Neds. Turned out to be the flapper valve. Just needed a quick clean up and stopped letting water Ono the bowl.

Appreciate your help mate.
