citroen dispatch van...mileage illumination

hi,can anyone help please.i have a citroen dispatch van.2002,52 reg,2.0 hdi.
my problem is that my clock(time clock) stopped working and a few days later i got into the van and started as normal but the mileage and trip miles didnt illuminate (its digital),it has been like this for about 2 weeks.
is it likely that the two are connected or just coinsidence.could any one tell me a possible cause and solution please.

Liquid crystal displays are usually back lit by a small lamp bulb, find and renew and it will work ok.

thanks....i thought it would be a bulb but just had a doubt it was more serious as i expected to be able to see digits in day,but you cant.thanks
