I bought this Xsara at auction and the engine wasn't exactly in top nick, but its was still a lot better than my last car.

My mate noticed one of my HT leads was Arcing, this was after I had it put through a so-called service (leaving no change to the performance of the car at all). It was running ok then but now that I have replaced the HT leads its running like a lawnmower.

My mate had a tinker with it after I replaced the leads, I'm 90% sure I got them in the right order in the first place, but he said I hadn't. So he swapped some round. lost track of what I did and what he did, but it is running.

So what I'd like to know is.

a) what is the correct order for my HT leads?
b) if my car was serviced and he didn't notice this arcing, would it screw up the timings now that the arcing problem has been solved?
c) what else could be the problem?

thanks.

Firing order should be 1-3-4-2 clockwise.
If it was arcing out it may have knackered the ecu.

Hard to say with out seeing / hearing it run
