I have inherited a large wool rug and have put it down over the weekend. I am now aware that it smells and it is making the room smell. How can I best get rid of this? Is a carpet cleaner the best way or are there other ways of getting rid of the odour? I would prefer to try a method other than a cleaning machine first as it is a large rug and I had to virtually clear the room of furniture before laying it.
