I had sandstone blocks steps fitted last year but didn't realise how porous they were.

When they are wet, they turn a very dark colour and look dirty, which is unfortunately most of the time in Scotland.

With the weather improving, I am going to have them professionally cleaned but want sure if there was some type of sealant or similar I can apply to keep them with a dry look??

Pics from when they were fitted and from today (bottoms step still drying out).

Resiblock sealer is well regarded, won't make the surface shiny, this site seems a lot cheaper than most.

OP,
Well back in the day steps used to be scrubbed each day with "Donkey stones" - there's a vid on utub showing the house proud working class stoning their steps.

FWIW: you need rails for both sets of your steps.
