clio auto box changes gear by it self

drops to 2nd or sticks in 2nd, message comes up saying
check gearbox

stop turn off, restart and car is fine
no warning, only does it when cold and only does it every other day

could battery or ABS confuse computer in to thinking its at the wrong speed ( as has been suggested)

had it plugged it and all old faults cleared , it drove great and changed gear really smooth better than before, then it started it again about 4 days later
any ideas please

I'm unhappy to say that these are one of the most unreliable auto boxes of all time but the fault diagnostic system is good.
Due to bitter experience I've found only Renault themselves know how to go about sorting this (invariably it boils down to a fluid pressure issue)
so I'd recommend their advice in this case.

yes i have read that the EMV solenoid is a likely issue, the garage ( not renault) is recomending to change the battery as a first effort seems unlikely to my uneducated mind
