Cluster fk buying a hoover!!

:)

Hoover is not a verb, it is a brand name.
I think you will find that 'hoover' is one of those words whose meaning has evolved much like - shall we say - transformer.

You are vacuuming up.
I think you are 'vacuum cleaning'; you cannot 'vacuum up'.

Also - you should not end a sentence with a preposition.

Agree that more power doesn't necessarily equate to better suction.

I bought a recon hoover from a local shop purely because it was marked with the legend "1600 watts". However, although it made more noise than a fleet of bulldozers and had a cute little hose attachment with wheels on it, it struggled to shift the average ball of fluff. Maybe the recon hadn't worked too well.

I have two Dysons, one old one which I use for cleaning up after DIY and a ball model which I bought because my brother recommended it. Both are as noisy as Hell but suction-wise nothing to write home about.

Henrys are reputed to be fine machines, so
my advice would also be to take yours back and get one.
