Hi

Just after some suggestions as to how to prevent a system airlocking again.

They have an ensuite built a long way from the cold water storage - I'd say the distribution runs a good 20m in the loft space, horizontally (looks to be slightly falling) before dropping into the ensuite. They had an airlock which I pushed out and resolved but apparently this happens regularly. It is supposed to happen when they've been away (they go to Australia regularly for 6 weeks at a time). This seems to bizarre to me cos whenever I've seen airlocked systems before it's usually from the tank draining or air getting in through a leak!

Anyway, I was thinking of fitting AAV but as there doesn't seem to be an obvious high point where the air is collecting, am not sure this will work.

Any views greatly appreciated

Graham

Interesting, if the tank is full of water and no restriction, don't understand how it happens. The drop down will act as syphon, pulling more water?

No, there's no mixer on the bath or basin.

One thing I didn't mention was that there are 2 tanks (this is a big house - actually there are 4 cwsc tanks but that's by the by). They have one tank that feeds the hot cylinder and the other feeds the cold distribution - the cold, however, has an independent outlet to the pumped shower - again this looks correct.

I'm sure it's something to do with the length of the dist. pipework albeit they don't look like they have any rises or anything!
