Cold flow to bath mixer is too fast, cannot regulate temp

Hi,

I have a mixer tap on my bath. The hot is tank-fed via 22mm pipe, the cold is mains fed via 15mm pipe.

The problem is that the cold pressure is too high compared to the hot, which means that is is almost impossible to get a usable temperature when using the attached shower hose (though it's not so bad if just using the tap). When using the shower head with the hot tap fully open, the water runs cold as soon as you turn the cold on even a small amount.

I've tried decreasing the cold pressure via the stopcock that is fitted in line, to the point that the cold tap on it's own is flowing way to slow, but it's still to fast when using the shower head.

Is there any kind of device that will lower the pressure, but still maintain a good flow rate?

Thanks

Paul

the thing you want is called a pressure reducing valve, available from any good pumbers merchant

The cold feed should come from the cold water storage tank for equal pressure which will be the same as your hot feed. Also I've learnt that the pressure reducing valve don't always work.Have a read on this prevoius post.
