cold rad at bottom

Our frontroom rad is cold at the bottom and warm at the top.the feed pipe is hot,the return is cold.we thought it was sludge and replaced the radiator but still the same problem.any suggestions????

They're still full of water and they still have two valves... one for setting one for balancing.

Choose your setting valve on each rad and open it fully.

Now close all the other valves then open them a half of a turn.

Now run the system for 30 to 60 mins and see which are hot and which are not.

Those that are blasting turn down a quarter of a turn.

Leave for another test period.

Those that are still not hot open another quarter turn.

Repeat test period.

adjust each rad in turn in 1/8 increments until the system works or you are board.

If board call and engineer 'cos your system is clogged and the pump is probably suffering.


Once the rads are all hot you can worry about temperature drops and the like.

thankyou very much for your help,i think its best we get a specialist in as some of the valves are seized and im not sure what im doing......!!!!!
so will see what they have to say. thanks again.
