Hi all my rads are red hot apart from 1. the pipe going to the rad is red hot i undid the trv and water came out i put a hose pipe on the rad and opened the other end and water came out. so why is the rad not getting hot?????????

Please help my wife is doing my head in.

thanks

I'm not absolutely clear of where you made the disconnections described

Possibilities:

TRV is jammed shut. Remove head and check that pin can be moved up and down.

TVR is on return rather than flow. Most can be on either but some have to be on flow(inlet) pipe to work properly.

Rad is completely sludged up. Any warmth at all at top of rad?

I assume you have bled the radiator of air as a first step.

hi job

what i did was undid the trv at the rad turned tap off and put a bucket under rad pipe to drain the water from the rad when that was done i opened the trv and water flowed out. turned the tap the other end and water flowed throw the rad so no blockage. And i did bleed all the rads.

it is just weird

to your knowledge, has this rad ever worked?
has any work been undertaken on the system recently?
can you trace the pipe work back visually to prove the rad is connected to Flow and return?
basic checks i know but the most simple of things can create the most baffling of problems.

hi

yes the rad did work but has just stayed warm the last 1 year.

thanks
why would the pipe going to the rad red hot?

could ba a balancing problem, shut all other rads down 1 by 1 and see if it kicks water round the offending one

hi shut all rads off and it got about 1c hoter then cold and the trv is open i have water coming throw it

it is doing my head in
