Cold Radiators.

I have a solid fuel range,I burn coal on it.Could someone please tell me why some evenings my radiators are hot and some evenings my radiators are cold.I have red hot water coming out of the tap and just cannot understand why sometimes the rads are hot...and sometimes they are cold.Any idea's?

THe trouble with solid fuel is that you have to let the hot water get hot and achieve a good hot fire before switching on the central heating. hope this helps.
 
The water is that hot that the thermostat does'nt switch off till 90%!The water out the taps is boiling hot.....one night the rads are hot...the next night the rads are cold!

Are you sure that the pump is OK, try turning it to a different setting does the humming noise change tone, it could be jamming intermittently
