I have just moved into a new home with a Gainsborough shower. On our first viewing i turned it on and it ran hot for around 5 minutes. Since moving on it hasn’t stayed hot for more than 10 seconds. I have no idea about these kinds of things and any advice is appreciated. :)

Assuming and electric shower.... Does it remain hot, if it is tested, with the shower head removed - just the bare, open pipe?

I don’t know how to remove the shower head honestly, I would try with the help of youtube but my tools are limited to a few screwdrivers and a hammer

Fingers, should be enough - unscrew the knurled connection, when the pipe joins the head. Usually there is a soft rubber washer between the two parts - don't lose it.
