Hi all, need to knock up a small amount of coloured mortar for pointing about one meter square in yellow to match existing. I know it depends on colour of sand and amount of colour powder, but can anyone give me an idea how much yellow you would add in a 8 in 2 mix just to give me some idea, and do you add powder to water or into sand and cement mix. Thanks for your time, much appreciated.

I would add the dye to the mix (dry) then add water to get a workable mix. if you add the dye to the water, you don't know how much you will use , unless you dry your sand out first. Round here, Wixes soft sand is the colour of custard.
