Hey with a standard combi boiler heating system with no zones valves, is it enough to leave the radiator were the room stat is with two locksheild valves on to act as a system bypass should all the other rads trv's be turned off.

correct that is the normal way to install this type of system but don't play around with the valves on this rad , if installed correctly they will be set at what the boiler requires as a by-pass flow rate

When a new boiler is fitted the Best Practice as well as the boiler makers say that an auto bypass valve needs to be fitted!

Many don't though!
