hope someone can help i have moved into a bungalow over 2 yars ago we had a new combi boiler we also had a new shower which i belive it would of been a thermostatic however it kept going cold so had a plumber out and he suppled and fitterd a new one in less then a year this shower keeps running cold 2sec hot then runs cold :(

Do hot taps run cold if left running? Also, check shower head isn't scaled up.

If all else fails, your shower valve may need a new cartridge.

perhaps youd like to provide us with some more details like what sort of boiler it is as in make and model and also the type of thermostatic shower and whether this was the same as the last and if when the plumber supplied and fitted it there was any improvement at all for any time and if there wasnt any why you bothered to pay the plumber as what he did dint solve the problem and he obviously didnt look to see if there was anything else wrong with the whole setup you might also like to use full stops and capital letters since this tends to give structure as well as makes it easier to read while also making the author look a little less shall we say simple.

If other hot taps also run cold, then your shower is not at fault.

I'll hand you over to the boiler experts, who will not dobt advise if you tell them the make and model of your boiler.

its a Main Combi 24HE
being as i am dyslexic and my grammers isnt that great ,i will try to keep it short

I suspect the boiler is defective i.e. suuply of hot water is defective. Would not have expected a two year old boiler to do this. Would be looking at system water. If system water (water that heats radiators) is dirty because system was not cleaned when new boiler fitted, this is the kind of problem you could expect.

If i run the hot tap slow it will give off hot water.I dont think its the boiler as i have it check every year by eon.the shower did work for a short while

Eon safety check will not even identify that problem.

You are quoting the classic symptoms of a blocked plate heat exchanger!

Thats because the installer did not properly clean the system when he fitted the boiler. We find thats most common when a cheap make boiler like yours if fitted.

we did ask about and took advice before we got this bolier, as it wasnt a matter of cost! but we was told that it goes on how many raditors you need to heat. I didnt give the shower a thought
so what do i need to do as i now dont want the cost of replacing my bolier for a more expensive one?

If I was you and I knew what I know now then I would call back the installer and tell him about the problem and that you have been advised that its because he did not properly clean the system.

Of course thats not going to be possible if he quoted for a power flush and you declined it on account of the cost which usually about £250 extra on an install and £350 on its own.
