Consider replacing it! Reputation of being unreliable and a pain to work on.

Diaphragm, Diverter valve

oo err. If not a wiring /programmer fault, then pcb, unless a flow switch is stuck.

hi chris r, i thought it might be the diverter valve, but no idea about the
other problem,D/Vs are about £45,but you can buy just the membrane.
i suppose its up to the engineer, what he wants to do,dont know prices
of c/bs.found this make o-k we have had it 7 years and only had one
other fault on it.
which make do you reccomend for quality and price?.

If I recall the genuine Ravenheat diverter valve is about £100 plus VAT. There are cheaper generic parts available but you cannot always assume they will fit any particular boiler.

Changing the diverter valve valve on the RSF 820 is a real pain and usually results in several scraped knuckles. I allow up to two hours although I did speak to someone who used to be their service engineer who could do it in about 40 minutes. Putting the paddle on the diverter shaft in situ is a near impossible job and required a flexilight, inspection mirror and child sized hands.

This model is getting on for 10 years old and whilst it can be repaired and is fairly reliable it does need regular servicing because the fan is running constantly and draws in a lot of dirt.

If you really believe that this is a genuine Ravenheat spare part then I suggest you telephone Louis Pickersville, the Owner of Ravenheat or John Wilson the Technical director, and tell them their genuine parts are being sold so cheaply! I think they will appraise you of the real facts!

Anyone can set up a web site and advertise generic parts against Ravenheat part numbers! Its technically in breach of the Copyright. Note however they do not actually say they are Ravenheat parts which they are selling, all they say are that they are Giannoni parts.

Ifyou have a diy shed near to you that sounds like dix then they have some lovely "How to do " leaflets.

hi, well fitted the diverter valve i bought for £40,exactly the same as the
one i took off,all a bit fiddly but not as bad as i expected.
H.R.H.the corgi fitter wanted £80 +vat +any bits he needed.and that was
to fit part i had. every thing working o_k wife happy (for a while).

Well presumably you are happy now!

We could have supplied you with a generic diverter valve for less than £40 however you seemed to be convinced that you were getting a Ravenheat genuine part!

We would have charged a little more for fitting it in London but that would have included a check of the operating parameters of the boiler and be roughly equivalent to a proper service.

I am not happy with your term H.R.H. to describe a CORGI registered gas engineer. I am assuming you are meaning "His Royal Highess". This is a sneyd derogatory adjective in my opinion to describe a fully qualified person who provides a professional service and is fully qualified and experienced to do so. The price he quoted you seems very reasonable for a job we consider needs at least one and a half hours to be done properly.

A solicitor I am using charges £242 plus vat per hour !!!

hi agile, sorry there was no offence intended,it is just the time and
way i was treated, just to get him to come to the house, his whole
attitude was offhanded, take it or leave it.so i left it.
i know all corgi fitters are not like that,my remark was aimed at this
particular one.
