normally on a combi ya hw just use's cold mains pressure. cold water taps are normally fed straight from the cold mains but i have seen on occasion cold water tanks in lofts feeding the bathroom taps.

why ya having problems?

From your previous post it sounds very likely that your cold to combi/ upstairs cold has frozen . no pump is used on the hot and cold

im having real problems, i have no water upstairs and no hot down stairs, i have forced water up the hot pipe from the mains down stairs and it came out up stairs so dont think any pipes can be frozen, heating is working fine, there is no cold water tanks in the loft. please help me im at the point where im just going to lose it lol
thanks

The hot pipe can be clear if the cold to the combi has frozen.
How cold is it down your way today and is there anywhere (airbrick, holes) that a draft can get in and hit the cold pipe

last night was very cold, dont know if theres any air bricks which might cause it to have frozen will check tomorrow. so i hot pipe could be clear and just the mains to the combi has frozen right?
