When trying to switch on the boiler it won't ignite. The green light goes on momentarilly, the blue light comes on, after a few moments the reset light comes on and the spanner light. Both go out, the boiler light stays blue for a little while and thenflashes and the reset button comes on again.
The boiler had been working but when the joiner fitted the skirting the concealed wire in the wall was nicked which blew the spur socket to the boiler (we had the electrician back out to repair this).
Any ideas as to what the problem might be?
Many thanks

FIrst off, which model W 28 , they made loads. Look for any of: greenstar, cdi, i, junior Si ...

has to be a greenstar junior if it has a spanner light and reset.

how fast does the blue light flash?

It rather depends on what wire was involved in the electrical short.

Its possible the boiler PCB has been damaged.

It would probably need a competent boiler engineer to identify what has failed if the boiler will not reset.

How big a job if the PCB has gone?

the pcb is about £140 to buy ( fitting etc more)

Worcester charge £210 for a one off fix They carry all the parts on their vans. If you need 2 or 3 parts it's the same price!

This may be your best option! hope this helps!

Ouch!!! Fingers crossed it's not the PCB.
Many thanks for your comments.

That's what I told a neighbour in need (= , like a friend, a pest ) :D

So he called them and they said £350 or so.

BG is cheaper

About once a second.

off the top of my head once a second is failure to light. PCB, no gas, gas valve, ignition failure, blocked trap. could be a lot of things. you really need to get someone in to see it.

The gas fitter is coming tomorrow. From what you said I'm wondering whether the gas was turned back on after he brazed the pipe for the gas fire. (The new gas fire is still to be fitted.)

What a relief, your comment of possibilities, including no gas, was spot on.

Many thanks again
