If anyone could shed any light on this I'd be very grateful !

I've recently bought a flat with a combination boiler which is all new to me...

There seems to be a couple of problems when using the shower...Firstly, when you turn the shower on it runs for about 15 secs and then slows down to a dribble, however if you then turn on the cold tap in the sink for about 10-15 secs then turn it off the shower runs normally again and is fine....Secondly, during the shower some radiators in the flat seem to be getting hot as though the heating is on, but it's not....

Would anyone have any idea why this is happening ?

Thanks

Sam

Vaillant made a lot of different models!

Which is yours?

Its not anything immediately obvious but the diverter may be failing. Can you measure the flow rate in litres per minute at which the boiler JUST switches on for DHW?

Hello,

When you say DHW, what does that mean ?

Thanks

domestic hot water (tap)

Thank you, so I shouldn't measure the flow rate from the shower itself ?

Thanks

Sam

No, probably whichever tap is nearer the boiler (kitchen sink??) so you can hear when the boiler activates

Thank you, I'll check it from the Kitchen sink and let you know...

Hello,

The Vaillant combi boiler I have is a: VCW-Shine 18 T3 W

and the flow rate of hot water from the kitchen tap is 6 litres per min...

Please could you let me know what you think or if you require any further info...

Thank you for your help

Sam

A Shine 18 ?

Is the 6 litres per minute the flow rate at which the boiler JUST turns on as I asked ???

If so then the flow sensor under the boiler with five (!) pipes is failing.
