Concealed door closures

Should have a split metal plate , this slides between the links after pulling out the slack [locking the chain fully out]and allows you to fit the barrel into the door and the plate to the frame, remove the plate and the tension will pull in the door again.

if you lose the tool, you can wedge them open with a claw hammer and put a carpet tack in the chain to stop it pulling back inside

It is very much easier to do this when the tube is in the door.

It is fairly easy to fit the frame plate when the chain is held very slack with the tack or tool.

If you write to the makers of Perko, they will probably send you a new tool. Lots of people lose them. Try not to lose yours.

Thanks for your replies, however I do have the tool you relate to, but the spring in the barrel is very strong and I cannot pull the plates apart, which is causing the concern.
Surely the springs should not be so powerful.
