Hi,
Does anyone know how I remove the faceplate retaining ring on this type of concealed shower valve?

The plastic retaining ring has four vanes which are blocked by four vanes on the central boss, meaning I can only rotate it just under a 1/4 turn. I removed an e-clip from the splined shaft thinking it would allow me to slide off that central keyed boss (that has the vanes on it), but it didn't budge. If anyone is familiar with this specific fitting and can tell me how it is disassembled I would really appreciate it.
Thanks,
Mike.

Yes, in my OP I mentioned removing an e-clip, but your arrow shows exactly where I removed it from.

However, by fiddling around with the water on/off tap/valve I figured out that the plastic retaining ring is not a "retaining" ring. It just holds an o-ring and slides off. So simply breaking the silicone seal under the face plate was enough to remove it.

I feel like a bit of a donkey, but hopefully if anyone comes across the same one and reads this they wont waste their time like me.

Thanks for those who took time to read my issue and reply.

Cheers,
Mike,
