Concealing Pipework

Hi
We have pipework running through our kitchen worktop which needs concealing. Have considered pvc trunking but is it correct it will turn yellow and the paint will crack from the heat of the pipes?
Any advice on how best to disguise them would be helpful.

You can buy and use trunking wide enough for two pipes but the problem you may encounter is cutting it to fit over the upstand and getting it to still finish flush against the wall, although I think it should be fine.

As for painting it, I always do so and have never had a problem with flaking paint but I have come across jobs where it has already been flaking.
The method I use is to apply several thin coats, allowing each to dry before the next, rather than trying to paint it too thickly which can be conducive to the paint flaking. A light sand with very fine paper or even a nylon scourer will help provide a key to the plastic.

Trouble is, a small boxing should have been made out of wood before the worktop was put in and the worktop and up stands fixed around this.

The boxing could be then painted the wall cololur.

Or....better, the pipes moved.

I would idealy move the pipework to corner before fitting kitchen, but in your situation would box in using some of the upstand material.
