Hiya,
I'm new around here, so be gentle!!
(but am on to my second major renovation so should be able to offer some sort of advice to others!!)
I'm currently gutting my detached sandstone/whinstone cottage which has two 1980's extensions on the back. I'm pulling up a (badly laid) parquet flooring in one of these extensions and under the wood blocks is a black sealant/tar like substance. Now, I'm planning to have 8mm ply then 8mm solid oak on top of the solid concrete, but was wondering if I should re-seal the floor before the new wood goes down? I've already installed a DPM on one of the walls of the extensions as there was water ingress- I think these extensions were done as cheaply as possible
If the advice is to seal, what should I seal with?
Thanks in advance!
Martin
