I need to replace a landing window with a doorway, unfortunately the window head hight is about 6 inch too low so will have to take out the existing concrete lintel (215mm height chunky thing) on the inner skin with a new one higher up. Not sure if I can risk trying to go easy on it and get it out and get a new one in above it or if I'll need to strongboy it? It'll be a pain as the acro would be on the stairs which is probably a silly idea?
It's got the gable wall above it, and there's no lintel on the outside skin that I can see.
Also, would a 65mm lintel to replace it on each skin (1200) be ok, never sure on what span is ok for the concrete lintels but I know there's potentially more downwards weight on a gable?
Any pointers appreciated.
