im putting a new opening for a 4ft window in the kitchen what would be best to use RSJ , concrete lintel or a catnic lintel. I used concrete lintels to put in the new doorway in but the window is wider so will it need a bigger support . Its a 9in double skin brick wall , cheers andy

4ft wide window?? what width in the opening? is there are floor spanning onto it from above? is there a roof spanning onto it? 9" solid wall??

4ft wide , 9inch cavity , no joists onto it , the roof has three slopes so yes this wall supports the roof

all steel lintel companies (catnic, birtley, i.g. etc) do a lintel that will deal with 225mm or 9" brickwork. best to use one of theirs.

Yep Catnic/IG lintels etc would prob be cheapest/simplest option for you.
