Not sure any have been around long enough to comment on reliability, however all the miniature type ones I've seen have failed.

Funnily enough, it was quite small and about 3 years old. Will soon be buried in the pet cemetary in the garden (in a layer of limestone chippings just in case anyone's paranoid )
