During Covid Lockdown, I converted our detached garage into a home cinema. Six cinema seats, digital projector but one extra difference, I actually have a 35mm film projection system. So, because of this, the back part of the room is a separate projection room to reduce the noise
The one issue I have is, around this time of the year, I get condensation in the projection room at the lower half of the room. This is noticeable about half way up on the metal structure of the film projector (it's a metal body). (I don't use the film projector when this happens!) This problem only happens when it's really cold outside - from March to November time there isn't an issue.
The cause, I'm sure, of this is when it's really cold outside and so it's cold inside to start with and when we use the video digital projector. This video projector kicks out quite a bit of warmth, and so this is warming up the air at the top of the room, and then meeting the cold air towards the bottom and causing the condensation to appear.
The floor has underlay and a couple of layers of carpet tiles.
How is best to sort this?
I was thinking of either:
a) Put in a vent in the wall to the outside (like this one: https://www.permagard.co.uk/perma-vent-standard)
or
b) Put in an extractor fan
Can someone please help with letting me know what the best solution is? And, if it's a vent or extractor - where is the best position for this? In the ceiling or half way up the wall leading to the outside?
