what is the point of a regular boiler that the flow tempratue can be set to 50 degrees c when its used to heat a hot water tank :?: (not much point in having an interlock)

Clearly the boiler flow temp has to be slightly higher than DHW cylinder stat temp, or DHW would never be satisfied. This is true for all boilers, condensing or standard.

the point about condensing boilers is to try to keep the return temp down, preferably below 55 degrees (?), to maximise condensation of flue gases. It needs to be set up carefully to optimise performance, and there is always the likelihood of the user messing up the settings subsequently.
