Please can anyone advise me as to what size cable (4,6,10mm?) I may need for a new electric cooker just purchased? The details of the Electric double oven is 230-240V~50Hz, 9800 - 10700W.I have a dedicated cooker point in wall that is just behind where cooker slots in & would like to connect it direct to this. There is a cooker socket & separate plug in socket near this above the worktops. Whether relevant all property is electric.
Appreciate any help. :?:

Read the book. Mine has total of over 60A yet manufacturer says use a 32A protective device. In the main most items are designed for 16, 32, 63, or 128 amp these are the steps most euro sockets use. It is unlikely any cooker for domestic use will exceed the 32A requirement.

As to 4, 6, or 10mm sq that depends on where the cable is run and what type of cable is used. So some Ali-tube cable clipped direct at 4mm will likely be rated at 45A yet some thermoplastic twin and earth in a stud wall with thermal insulation with cable not touching the inner wall surface would only just be rated at 32A with 10mm sq cable.

Again google Batt Cables or similar and all the manufacturers data is freely available.
