I have recently purchased a new Intesit electric oven and gas hob and I am a little confused about the wiring?

The old cooker that I am replacing has it own direct connection to the consumer unit (with its own 30Amp fuse). There is cooker control unit that sits above the worktop and feeds down to some form of junction box behind the cooker. The cooker was connected directly to the junction box.

Can I replace the junction box with a double socket? (One plug for the cooker and one plug for the ignition switch on the hob)

Gas Hob ignition – 220-240V ~ 50-60Hz

Electric Oven – 230-240V ~ 50Hz (Maximum power absorbed 2250W – 2400W)

I would be grateful for any advice??

Yes, that should be ok. Presumably the oven and ignition switch came with its own flex?
