Hi

I want to move a light switch but the existing cable isn't long enough, can I cut the existing cable and join it to the new cable with a connection strip?

Not unless the connection strip is to be accessible for maintenance, which i assume is not the case as you would probably wish to plaster over the old light switch position.

But you can CRIMP the new length of cable to the old and conceal with plaster etc.

Only if it remains in a safe zone
