Hi people, i want to change my old rewireable fuse type consumer unit for a newer split load type, how do i go about isolating it, i.e. removing the electricity boards seal and fuse? an electrician friend of mine is going to do an inspection and test and fill out the test form but do i need to inform the electricity board before cutting the seal on the fuse? and do the board need to come out and do there own inspection an testing before re-sealing the fuse?

Changeing a consumers unit should only be done by a qualified electrcian. since they can test it and notify the electricty company who will send their electrcian to test what your electrician has done. (they trust no one)
