At my parents home they have a rectangular shower tray with a fixed glass screen.
The shower is thermostatic with a lever control and a fixed deluge head. Think it might be this Mira one.
They're finding it a bit of a pain to use as both have mobility problems and it's a bit difficult for them to turn it on without getting soaked with cold water and makes rinsing the screen, tiles and far end of the tray after cleaning impossible unless you go armed with a bucket of water, which they can't .
Option is to remove the fixed head and replace with a hand held, or if possible, add a hand heldin addition to the fixed head, but understand that would need a diverter valve.
Are diverters only available built in to multi function showers, or can they be attached to the water outlet on the top of the shower?
Having said that, adding a diverter in there would mean having to remove and refix the fixed riser pipe higher up the wall anyway, so might as well just get rid of it.
