Coolant header tank cleaning

What can anyone recommend for cleaning the gunge out?

Its not severe but there are deposits inside and having baffles, I can't get a brush inside.

You might want to check further what is causing the gunge inside. Oil contamination or have you mixed OAT and Non-OAT antifreezes?

Take the header tank off. Half fill with hot soapy water, give it a good shake, rinse, repeat.......

As above....if its just coolant scale it doesn't do any harm and you can't shift it anyway!

I think washing powder is good for this.

I've found that adding a small amount of gravel etc which you can then shake around helps clean them out well, along with whatever chemicals you get in there. Obviously removed from the car...

I'll try the various with exception of gravel. The tank has two metal probes inside which I presume are for coolant level sensing. The gravel may damage them.

I think it needs to be biological washing powder.
