I have to re-do the kitchen. I am thinking to use the men-made solid stone, corian or hi-macs worktops. They are selling on the web for £100-200 per meter(600mm wide). However, the installation fee is very high. I wonder if anyone has done the DIY to install them. Any advice is welcomed.

I helped my dad fitted the MFI version a couple of years ago in his house. They are fairly simple to be honest but due to the weight need a couple of pairs of hands.

You MUST take things slowly though as its definitely a case of measure and offer up a few times - cut/stick once!.

Also do not scrimp on the tools that the instructions recommend using they make life much easier and when routing the edge profile, close all doors and use a vaccuum extract as the swarf goes everywhere.

The real skill is in the patience in sanding and polishing. A random orbit sander and many very very very fine grades of paper help with this.

Final result was very pleasing though. Dont be too scared of it.
