Bought a 52 plate, slight damage, cut through the cable feed to my offside headlight/idicator, repaired by joining the relevant wires, but cannot get headlights, as the wires left are all yellow, tester needed? Advice as well please.

Phone one sparky, said he'll have to find a wiring diagram?, not got back, 2 days,

What's the home made solution?.

Make a simple tester with a bulb and 2 wires. Connect the wires to the bulb with tape or solder and check that its working across the battery. Connect one wire from the bulb to a good shiny steel part of the body. Connect the other wire from the bulb to the positive (+ red side) side of the battery, the bulb should light.
Now switch on the dip main beam. Connect the bulb to each wire using the wire you had connected to the positive terminal. When the bulb lights thats the dip main beam wire. Do the same with the main beam. You will probably have a wire left over thats the earth for the headlight unit.

Are the wires not traced with different colours, a small line of a different colour running up through the yellow?

Double check the fuses as they may have blown.

Good luck
