New wooden doors are coming in at 6k inc fitting. UPVC about £2,500. All with Georgian bar. Am I mad for considering the 6k quote? It would mean alot of scrimpin and saving. I just hate the ugly bulky hinges they use on UPVC doors!

I think both quotes are taking the ****; I’d get some more.

You should be able to get a good quality 1.8m Rahau UVPC unit for less than £1k, fitted; last ones I had cost £750 a couple of years ago but prices haven’t moved that much if at all; the Georgian bar may add a bit but not much.

Admittedly I don’t know about the cost of wood; undoubtedly will be more expensive but £6k seems ridiculous to me.

Yep all the joiners are around that price unfortunately.
I should of pointed out the french doors are in a bay, so there are sidelights and windows above also, so this would bump price up a bit also. A local builder has quoted £1500 + 500 for g/bars, but dont want the cheapest of UPVC thats going to discolour with a c**p thermal efficiency!
