Seriously though - contact your local college of further education and also the City & Guilds organisation. There are various C & G qualifications in this field and it might help to discuss this with a careers advisor. There are also two trade bodies to contact: NAPIT and NECEIC. They may be able to advise you on what you need to do to gain their certification (necessary if you are going to do house wiring - the dreaded Part "P")
