ive bought a desktop with preloaded xp pro,i got the coa with it,but the thing is....Microsoft updates came through,and seemed ok...and ime getting a message that i may be a victim of couterfeiting,click now to resolve this issue or do later..Would i be right in saying that it is copy of xp pro and COA dosen't mean a thing.

Always a possibility, where did you buy it?

If the O/S was preloaded, it should have an OEM product key stuck to the case.

Have you registered it, and done the "Windows Update" thing that will suck down a validation tool?

If not, it might be perfectly valid, but not yet registered with Micro$oft.
